The Latino Social Work Coalition and Scholarship Fund’s mission is to increase the number of culturally and linguistically competent Latinx social workers serving low income and underserved Latinx community in New York City. This is accomplished by providing outreach, mentoring, education, training and financial support through collaboration with non-profit agencies and graduate schools of social work in pursuit of addressing the social needs of Latinx communities in need. SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION
Dear all:
We are pleased to announce our annual Latino Social Work Coalition and Scholarship Fund, Inc. (LSWCSF). Program for 2020-2021. This page is to clarify many of the questions you have had regarding our scholarship. Here are the scholarship guidelines:
1. The LSWCSF program provides scholarships to Latinx men and women with significant financial need residing in the New York metropolitan area that have been accepted or are enrolled in a master’s level program at one of the following accredited schools of social work:

Columbia University School of Social Work
Fordham University Graduate School of Social Service
Hunter College Silberman School of Social Work
Lehman College Department of Social Work
Long Island University – Social Work Program/Brentwood
New York University Silver School of Social Work
Touro College Graduate School of Social Work
Yeshiva University Wurzweiler School of Social Work
All applications are provided to the students by their school. We do not provide the application. There is a financial aid component to the application that only your financial aid department can do. Applicants must be accepted or currently enrolled in a full time or part-time master’s level program at one of the following accredited graduate schools of social work.
2. All applicants must be residents of either New York City or the counties of Nassau, Suffolk, and Westchester. Please note that returning students not originally residents of the New York Metropolitan Area who have registered to vote in the New York Metropolitan Area are deemed to be New York Metropolitan Area residents for purposes of applying for these scholarships.
3. Each student selected for a Latinx Social Work Council Scholarship Fund may receive from $1,000 to $2,500 depending on availability and their part-time or full-time status and they will be matched accordingly by their school, however, this depends on the program you are enrolled, and their financial availability for funding.
4. Students must be in good standing to receive subsequent scholarship awards as a continuing student.
5. Applicants must have an overall undergraduate/graduate academic GPA of 3.0 or better.
6. Prior work and/or volunteer experience or internships/field placement in human services and working with communities of color is desirable but not required.
7. Applicants must be bilingual in Spanish and bicultural.
8. Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to working with the Latinx community upon completion of graduate studies and sign a letter of acknowledgment.
9. All scholarship decisions are final
To apply you must meet the specified criteria. You must call your school mentor listed on our “Partner” tab or call the financial aid department. Usually, the schools send out a mass email to all students, so please check your emails.
In addition, if the mentor listed has changed, you may not receive a call from them, so call someone at your school, an advisor or Dean who may assist you. At the moment, we do not provide you with an application.
Once you complete the application you must return it to the assigned school of social work department or individual.

Your school must receive your application by May 30th, this has been extended due to the present health crisis.
